Parameters overview

Overbleed's parameters are split into the following groups in the effect controls.

Group Contents
Basics (bleed & shift) Bleed amount / direction / color shift / how much source stays
Streaks Drips (streaky runs)
Echo Ghost copies
Melt & Matte Melt / halftone / external matte / Dissolve
Color Color patches in the bleed cloud
Turbulence Noise scale / distortion / animation
Texture Grain / paper fiber / edge ink
Glow Glow / halation / flare
Linear Light Process in linear color space (checkbox at the bottom)

Where to start

The defaults are tuned to a reference look. To adjust from there, try these in order:

  1. Random Seed (in Turbulence) — greatly changes where things melt and how the color is placed. Try a few seeds first
  2. Bleed Amount — overall bleed. Scale it with the text size
  3. Melt Amount — how much melting
  4. Color Variation / Color Boost — strength of the color patches
  5. Glow Intensity / Glow Radius — glow

Linear Light

Turning on Linear Light (at the bottom) computes the bleed and glow in linear color space. Light mixing becomes physically correct and halation looks photographic, so it is recommended (default: OFF).
